Coal Miner's Daughter is a biographical film about the life of Loretta Lynn, a country music singer. The movie was filmed in several locations across the United States, including Kentucky, Tennessee, and California. The majority of the film's scenes were shot in and around the town of Van Lear, Kentucky, where Lynn grew up and began her music career. The filmmakers used Lynn's childhood home, a one-room cabin, as a set, and many of her family members and friends appeared in the movie as extras. Other locations that were used for filming included Los Angeles, Nashville, and Las Vegas. The film was released in 1980 and was directed by Michael Apted.
